The San Francisco office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP (DWT) welcomes Mark Gabel as an associate in the firm’s employment and labor group.

Gabel, who was previously an associate and summer associate with Hanson Bridgett LLP, has represented private and public agency clients in class action and single-plaintiff discrimination, employee benefits, and wage-and-hour litigation. He advises clients on employment law issues, including layoffs; overtime pay practices; drug-testing programs; alternative workweek schedules; as well as other traditional labor law issues. While at Hanson Bridgett, Gabel was a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and lectured and published on a number of employment and labor topics.

Prior to beginning his law practice, Gabel was a law clerk at the United States Department of Justice, Environmental and Natural Resources Division, as well as the County Counsel’s Office for the County of Marin.

Gabel received his Juris Doctor degree, graduating Order of the Coif, from the University of California – Hastings College of Law. While in school, Gabel was senior editor of the Hastings Law Journal, and a member of the Thurston Honor Society and the UC Hastings Moot Court. He graduated with high distinction and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California – Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in english. Gabel is a member of the State Bar of California.
